The Chapel of Wat Mahasawat Bhuddaram, Nakornpathom
The concept design for this
chapel is preserving beauty of the traditional Thai architecture.
However, the original material for construction, likes wood, is
replaced by concrete and steel for lasting longer. By this new
material of construction, it allows a huge space in the basement
which is turned to be a multipurpose hall. Inside the chapel,
the main hall provides space for sacred ceremonies. Outside the
chapel, the main hall is surrounded by square terrace with small
pavilions at each corner to give shade for relaxing and studying
Buddha’s sermon. The roof decorative is unique by using a stainless
steel cut into small pieces as a mosaic technique, instead of
colour glass. It gives a massive reflection to the sun and very
durable.
